My friends and family have always called me innovative. I am always looking for new ways to make extra cash on the side. This money comes in handy for family vacations, extra spending, school clothes, hobbies, and even paying down our credit card debt. Though I have several small enterprising ideas in the works, I wanted to share my newest money maker – Mechanical Turk.
So what the heck is it? It is a human intelligence marketplace. Companies supply tasks that need to be completed by humans (transcribing, surveys, etc.) and you can choose the task at your convenience. Task payments range from .01 to $50 depending on the task. You then can transfer the funds earned to your bank account or into your amazon account to use for purchases. Since we are Amazon Prime users, we have decided to transfer the funds there.
To start, you first must apply as a worker. You are required to provide personal information for TAX reasons. You also must apply for an Amazon Payments account that controls the fund you receive. Once approved, you can then begin working!
My first task was a .25 survey that asked me two questions. It took me less than 2 minutes to complete. Once the surveyor approved my funds, I had the funds added to my account. It was that easy! I have found that the higher level tasks, like $1 and up, really move fast so you need to jump on them. I have also found that early morning tasks are the best. I also realize that this is NOT a huge money maker but it is a great application to use while waiting on the phone or in between projects. Log in and complete quick tasks. By just doing this, I have earned roughly $3 in 3 days. Again, I am not dedicating hours to this, just 5-10 minutes a day. It has been worth it for me and with each task I complete, I am building my reputation to qualify for more lucrative tasks. It is worth checking out!
