Mom’s Meet scored a major win by adding King Arthur Flour to their tasting resume. My group was one of the lucky groups selected for this wonderful opportunity to try King Arthur Flour and become a part of their #BakeForGood campaign
According to the King Arthur Flour website, there are so many ways that you can BAKE FOR GOOD! You can create a nutritious meal to fill undernourished bellies, or host a bake sale to support a cause near and dear—like No Kid Hungry. Nothing says thank you quite like a plate of warm cookies—why not share with your local fire department, or your child’s favorite teacher? BAKING FOR GOOD can even be as simple as baking for your friends and neighbors, just to make them smile.
I got started right away and made the kid’s bread from the King Arthur Flour cookbook. Now, I have never made homemade bread so I was ready for a big fat failure. Oh was I wrong! KAF made it so easy and the bread came out perfect. I created another loaf for my group to show them just how easy it could be.
This really motivated my group members who, like me, are not bakers. Sure, I can whip up a cake using only the best boxed recipe without an issue. But making bread from scratch? Now your talking insane. This was proof that even the most inexperienced baker can become a pastry chef in no time. Ok, maybe not a super fancy pastry chef but the best amateur pastry chef out there.
We reviewed recipes on the website and decided on a few that we wanted to try. Then came the discussion about who to bake for. It was a unanimous decision to bake for a local police station that houses 101 brave men and women who keep us safe daily.
So, I started baking again. I learned very quickly that a black shirt is NOT a great thing to wear during baking. Hey we live and we learn.
All us members of the group selected items we would like to bake. One of the rules we made was that were to select an item we had NEVER made before. This was a great time for us to stretch our limits. I decided on the bacon cheddar chive scones because sweets are nice but I know these warriors love when actual food is delivered. It was so easy, I just followed the recipe and instantly made scones!
well, it was delivery day and all the group members joined together to provide this wonderful department with homemade goodies. They were accepted with such gratitude and kindness. We all understand now why it is important to #BakeForGood for the community.
